An oil catch can is essential on a performance vehicle to protect the engine from elevated levels of crankcase blow-by oil that accumulate from aggressive driving. Excess oil saturated air circulating back into the air intake stream can lead to degraded performance by depositing oil on the inside of the induction system, intercooler, intake manifold, etc. Radium Engineering catch cans feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, 2-step oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick.

These kits do NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA), and instead maintain the factory plumbing strategy. This closed-loop system routes clean filtered air back in through the engine and promotes negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed loop systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from being deteced in the cabin.

This kit contains two independent catch cans, each plumbed into different parts of the PCV system. It is designed for users wanting to keep the function of the the closed loop PCV valve which flows fresh air through the engine block to pull out blow-by gasses.
For more information on how crankcase ventilation systems work and why two catch cans are used, click HERE.
The catch cans install on the RH strut tower, as shown below, and interface with the factory PCV and crankcase ventilation hoses. This kit may NOT be compatible with some rotated turbo setups. Please evaluate closely before purchasing.

Catch cans must be maintained and emptied on a regular basis. The frequency will depend on how much oil is collected which varies from vehicle to vehicle.
For a maintenance-free solution, consider the Radium AOS-R.

Two kits are offered, depending on model and year of Subaru:
20-0208-02 Mounting Compatibility

  • 02-07 Impreza WRX
  • 02-07 Impreza WRX STi
  • 04-08 Forester XT
  • 05-06 Saab 9-2X Aero

20-0208-08 Mounting Compatibility

  • 08-14 Impreza WRX
  • 08-14 Impreza WRX STi
  • 2015+ Subaru STi

The main difference between the two is the catch can mounting bracket. Shown below is the early model (02-07) bracket on the left and the late model (2008+) on the right.

For 02-05 Subarus with a cable-actuated throttle body, our Cruise Control Relocation Bracket must be used.
For RHD vehicles, our Universal Dual Catch Cans must be used for custom mounting and plumbing.

Features:

  • Effectively raises the octane and increases engine performance with cleaner inlet air
  • Prevents oil buildup in the intake or intercooler system walls, throttle body, intake manifold, etc.
  • Excessive oil collection can be an indicator of a damaged engine
  • Bolt-in installation
  • Easy servicing
  • Capacity: 8 fluid ounces each

How It Works
During closed or light throttle, the PCV valve is open allowing fresh air to be pulled into and through the crankcase and into the intake manifold. The PCV line catch can will receive the most oil collection under this condition. The crankcase catch can will not see any oil collection in this circumstance.

Under full throttle conditions the PCV valve is closed (you do not want turbo boost entering the crankcase) and crankcase gasses are pushed out of the engine and into the turbo air inlet pipe.
This is opposite flow as the above diagram, and the time that the crankcase vent catch can will see the most oil collection.

Optional Petcock Drain Kits

  • Anodized -4AN ORB Barbed Fitting
  • Nylon ¼” Barb Mini Ball Valve
  • PCV Compliant Rubber Hose

This kit, sold seperately, can be used to remotely drain the catch cans without the need to unscrew the canister bodies. There is an option to put the remote drain kit on one or both catch cans. This is recommended for users that need to drain the catch can contents quickly and easily.

Notes: A petcock drain kit can NOT be used on the forward most catch can if using a Radium 13-0110 Cruise Control Relocation Bracket, 02-05 Subaru.
